About Samantha Chilvers

Chance brought Samantha Chilvers to Cabarete, Dominican Republic.

“The waves and artistic freedom inspired her to stay”.

Born to a family of artists in London, Ontario, Canada, Sam has always been driven by a need to push the limits – creatively and physically.

After a two-year residency at The Arts Project Gallery in her hometown of London, she picked a random spot on the map and found herself at Kite Beach in Cabarete.

Now a kite surfer sponsored by North and Mystic Kiteboarding who competes in exotic locations around the world, Sam’s sessions on the water can often be seen on the canvas literally in her Waves series and metaphorically through the energy and vibration that is a signature of her style.

A mixed-media artist, Sam works primarily in oils but frequently integrates epoxy and textiles into her pieces.

Recently, she’s experimented with digital expressions of her art as NFTs.  

Sam’s paintings have been sold around the world. While she routinely creates new art based on her travels, her work is permanently housed at the Chilvers gallery in Cabarete.

North & Mystic Kiteboarding Team

2020 was a big year for Sam; she joined the North and Mystic Kiteboarding team!  When she isn’t in the studio Sam is constantly pushing her boundaries on the water. With a love for both freestyle and strapless riding, Sam couldn’t be more stoked to join the North crew!
